Broadhead selection

I am trying to decide on a Broadhead for the upcoming deer season. I would prefer something that has replaceable blades. My top picks are the Magnus stinger buzz cut 2 blade with bleeders 1 1/8 wide, the Kayuga trizot 3 blade single bevel 1 1/16 wide, Simmons Mako 2 blade with bleeders 1 1/16 wide.

I've used the Buzzcuts in the past and they did the trick. Can't speak to the others. That being said, nowadays I'm a big fan of one piece machined heads like VPA makes.

I am a 3 and 4 blade fan so Magnus 4 blade stinger buzz cut and I like my 3 blades 1 1/8" or bigger.

Find a piece of leather a few inches by a few inches,  and push a 2 blade through it.   Now, pull on that leather in a few directions,  mainly up and down and side to side.  Watch how the slice moves.  When you pull the leather the direction the slice runs end to end,  the slice closes (the wound closes).   Side to side,  it opens.  Now do the same with a 3 or 4 blade.  You will notice, no matter what direction you pull that leather,   at least one portion of that slice is going to open (wound remains open).  It will never totally pull closed.  The difference in a 3 or 4 blade hole compared to a 2 blade hole.     
Let me proclaim ......not trying to kick a nest here .....  i love Zwickeys and Aces and Magnus and STOS and several others,  I am not crapping on 2 blades necessarily.  For animals I hunt,  unless I may be out trying to get something done with certain tackle and set up,  my go - to is going to be a 3 blade.   Specifically,  I am a big VPA 3 blade fan.   Don't need replaceable blades.  Anybody can sharpen a VPA 3 blade.  You only really need 1 tool to do it ....... 12" mill bastard file.   No fuss. Done.   Kill a million animals with one head until you sharpen it so many times it's out of your weight requirements.   Awesome bang for the buck.

I'm a three blade fixed blade fan for the reason mentioned above.  Also, resharpen, rinse, repeat.

Two blade stingers and buzzcuts for 10 years. Those buzzcuts tear them up!

I spoke with Mike Sohm, the founder of Magnus Broadheads, many years ago and asked him which head he used. He said he used the Buzzcuts because "they kill stuff dead".

I've been pretty successful with 4 blade Magnus stingers and buzzcuts. You are limited to 150 grains and down though.

I've killed many deer with two blade Stingers and other broadheads of the same dimensions. I think you would be happy with them. Broadhead selection is a personal choice based on whatever criteria is being desired for the broadhead to do.

The best broadhead is a sharp one put into the right place.
