good morning, can anyone tell me how to tell the difference between charcoal diamandwood and ebony. just bought a schafer riser and thought it was diamondwood but it seem to weigh alot more than my other bow. any hints . thanks

Jedimaster

Look at the front of the riser.  If you see vertical laminations it is dymondwood.

Ebony is black or dark brown with visible grain depending on the variety.  Charcoal dymondwood is very dark but has a gray component as well.  I had a Silvertip with charcoal dymondwood and I can tell you it is substantially heavier than most regular woods.  It is heavier than actionwood used by some bowyers, which looks similar.  If your Silvertip is FF compatible I would bet it is dymondwood because that is what Dave uses on the FF's. Hope this helps.
