changing the rest on my recurve

Hey, so I just bought an old browning recurve and I want to replace the tattered carpet arrow rest, but it's super glued on there pretty well. Does anyone know how I could get it off and then with what/how I would replace it.

Just pull it off and then sray some w-d 40 on it and rub...
   Clean the area and then use Bargecement to put it back on....
