Novice bowhunter.  Just got my designated hunting arrows fletched and ready to go. Carbon Express 250s.  Will use Grizzly 2 blade 125 grain screw in broad head.  Total arrow weight +- 600 grains.

To the question.  What's the process of properly getting your arrow and broadhead aligned.  I know there's more to it than just screwing the broadhead in until it's tight and then calling it quits.  There's science to this.  Can someone give me advice on getting all aligned and properly tunned so that all's perfect when I take that first shot at an animal?

Thanks.
To become a professor, one must start as a grasshopper.

Actually, that is all there is to it -- screwing them in until they're tight.  UNLESS you want to orient the head a particular way, way vertical or horizontal, for example, or somewhere inbetween.  Then you may need to warm up the head to soften the glue to reposition the head on the adaptor.  Likewise, if the head doesn't spin true when you screw it in, that may mean that it isn't square on the adapter, and it must be loosened and reseated.  But that's about it.

One other thing, if you use left wing feathers, it will spin the arrow counter-clockwise, which tends to unscrew the adaptor from the shaft.  There are a number of gizmos designed to stop that, small rubber or aluminum washers between the butt of the shaft and the back of the blade, wax or glue on the adaptor threads, etc.

Good luck.

I would align them all the same way, if your arrows are perfectly tuned and spined correctly I would mount them all vertically(my preference), that way I don't have the head blocking part of my view of the target. If the arrows aren't flying perfectly, then you will get more consistant flight, if you mount the heads horizontally.

Rufus

Agree with the vertical, especially with the blocking of view thing. A tad bit of string wax on the threads of the broadhead and just a touch of snug with pliers will eliminate unscrewing thing. What I used to do back in my other kind of bow days.
Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly.

also with the left wing feathers you will make use of the the max "BONE CRUSHING" (over emphasis) penetration of the left hand single bevel of the grizzly
Silence over speed.  Heavier arrows never hurt.

WidowEater

or should I have said right wing bevel, my mistake
Silence over speed.  Heavier arrows never hurt.

Orion

Correct the second time, Widow Eater.  Left wing fletch actually works against/in opposition to the right wing bevel of a Grizzly.
