XX78 2514 components

I have a couple dz. left over 2514s that I am going to set up for my 64# recurve. I want to get more weight up front. I plan on using 125 gr. 3 blade screw in broadheads. (I have a lot) I don't relly want to use steel screw in adapters. Do you know of any brass inserts for 2514s? Or, what is the best way to get the extra weight up front? I would like to get between 200 and 250 gr. up front. Aluminum inserts are only 48 gr.

Have you looked into the PDP weight system (BTW: why don't you want to use steel BH adapters?)

I have a lot of screw in broadheads. I don't want to buy glue ons. I thought the PDP system was for carbons. I didn't see aluminum sizes listed.

You will have to do some modifying for your self.Kustom King sell some inserts for aluminum arrows that will accept the PDP weight system but they do not come in 2514 size.What I did on some of my aluminum arrows was the take the insert and drill and tap the back end of it with the same size as point threads 8/32.Then you can use the add-on GT weights,I take the insert and just drill out the back end with the proper drill bit and then run the tap in from the front end tapping the insert all the way through.Then I add the GT weight with a 8/32 lock washer to hold tight and give the little extra clearence for the depth of the point thread.The I reinstall the insert with hot melt.It worked for me.

What JRY309 said.  Also, are the screw-in heads you have manufactured that way or are they just glue-ons with alminum adapters installed?  You could switch out the adapters.

Also following JRY309 and tapping the back, you could just use a machine screw and washers or nuts on the back side of the insert instead of buying PDP components - get your weight set and lock-tite it in then glue in the insert.

Its all about creativity and imagination.  This is the kind of stuff that led to the product guys are selling.

Yes, the heads are made as screw on. No adapter. My neighbor has a small machine shop at his house. I think I may have him make me some brass ones. I know the 2514s are not the best shafts to work with but I have a bunch of them, and I'm not sure if I will keep this bow.
