I'm thinking of getting involved in a lease... I recall someone on here does lease liability insurance.....can't find in search.  Does someone on here do that, or have good recommendation in the Midwest?

Thanks!

So, curious now, why do you need insurance, what exactly does it cover?

Various bows, but if you see me shooting, it's probably a Toelke in my hand!

I am guessing this would be in case you do any damage to the owners property? If I recall NFFA membership includes some sort of insurance. Not sure of IBO.

I can not tell you exactly who to go to but if there is a group in this lease it would be best for the group to form an LLC and insure that LLC.  At that point if you want to cover your butt independently under liability that's for you to decide.

in the cases of the leases I worked with in TX, SC and several other states it was best for the group to form an LLC.

Just some thoughts.

Maybe this is the gentlemen you're thinking of?

I'll also echo forming an LLC.  It will eliminate someone trying to come after your home, car, etc.

I have a traditional only lease here in Georgia.  For me, the insurance is included in the lease price.  The lease is held by a timber company. The insurance is not optional. They also require me to have each person hunting on the lease to sign a "hold harmless" agreement that essentially releases the timber company from any liability.

Great topic, as land open to the public receives more and more pressure, the good areas with game are further from roads, or in private hands.
