I am curious as to who might know who this is; and the details of the picture.... I know everything but the 'where'.

You first photo looks like a closeup of a 4-blade wound on a polar bear, so I'm going to guess Fred Bear. I haven't a clue about the second one.

OK: I didn't start this for contraversy... but the picture is of Nels Grumley; he signed it on the back; it was given to me by Nels son.
I have NEVER - save that one picture above; heard that his name was 'NELSON'.
The picture was dated 1943. The score of the deer was recorded as was that it was an 11 point.
So- was Nels short for Nelson?

Or the original reporter took bad notes... and just got his name wrong.   :readit:

Its not about the weapon used, its about the adventure involved.

That's a good question. I've seen it both ways in old magazines. If Cliff Huntington's still running around, he'd probably know for sure.

Every time I have talked to his son John Grumley, he always said Nels, or Dad, so I don't know if it's short for Nelson or not, but John would know for sure.
