I finally got fed up with my home brew crester and bought a bohning cresting kit.  It has the standard crester which is WAY slower than anything I was ever able to build and that will be awesome to use.  However, I expected the dip tube to be something more than a flimsy black plastic tube and a cork, especially coming from a company like bohning!     Guess I'll have to start working on a home brew dip tube set.  :D

I use an old steel broom handle that I sunk halfway through a board. I got a rubber stopper at the hardware store. Made one 36", and one 9", they work well enough. Keep the finish or paint airtight too if needed.

There are one piece dip tubes that have about a 3" top that screws on with a 1" tube. holds enough paint to dip a dozen arrows without having to refill.
You can get them either 36" or 18" long.

Check 3rivers. I believe they have alum. dip tubes on sale. I prefer the "Lil-dipper" because it holds up to a pint of paint.I am messy so this also helps me keep the paint on the shafts and in the tube.
Some guys use PVC pipe with good sucess. i just do not know if Bohning paint will mix with the PVC. Maybe someone knows from experience?

the ones with the big end on top are called pro dipper

Bohning lacquers and PVC don't mix.
Get those cheap plastic tubes for a golf bag in a sporting goods Dept. cut to desired length and use a cork stopper in the ends.
You really don't need a high tec. or heavy duty tube to dip. The price is right also.
