I bought a used 47# Super Shrew Gold and it should be here in a couple of weeks.I was just wondering if it my be possible to use the same arrows that I'm shooitng out of my 42# ACS.The ACS is cut past center and uses a heavier spined arrow than would normally be used.I'm not sure if the Shrew is cut to or past center. If the Shrew is cut before or only to center then do you think it would be possible to use the same arrows even with a 5# weight difference.I know that I'll just have to weight and try it myself but I was just looking for opinions.

In my experience the shrews take a very stiff arrow mine was 51 pounds and i had to shoot 70 75 pound spine woods with 150 tip.

My shrew is 55@ 29.  I draw a full 29.  30.5 inch Goldtip 35/55s with 150 grain tips tuned out very well.

What are the arrows you are using now Ray?

I am assuming a lot of things here but if your bow is 47#@28 and you draw 28" so your arrow is cut to 29" and the bow has a 450+ string like Ron sells them with.  Then you would need to shoot an arrow in the 65# spine range.

I'm shooting Carbon Express Maximas 150's with 225gr up front right now out of my 42# ACS.The shafts are cut to 31" and they weigh 458gr.

My shrew likes arrow 10-15 # heavier then draw weight.

Ray,  You should be fine with the arrows you have.  You might just have to reduce your point weight, or shorten the arrow.

Ray out of my Shrew which is 50#s at 28"s and 47#s at my 27" draw I shoot Gold Tip 35/55's cut 27 3/4 "s with a 145 gr field tip.Feathers are three 51/2" or 4 -4" 4 fletch 90 degrees . Hunting set up is 150 gr Magnus Stingers. You can go with a 175 gr field tip or broadhead also. They fly like darts.

It sounds like I may have to cut a little off the arrows I already have. That's ok.I'm just happy to finally be getting a Shrew.I've been searching for a used one for a while now.

Ray try them first. How long are they now? It's easier to play around with the weight up front.

bentpole,I'm not exactly sure how long my current arrows are.I think 31".I'll bare shaft them first before I cut any off.I read somewhere that the Shrews are cut 1/8" before center and since my ACS is cut 3/16" past center, the arrows may work just fine.I was thinking that the extra 5# would make a big difference but the center cut in the risermakes a big difference as far as arrow spine is concerned.I've never shot a bow that wasn't cut past center.I've heard that they are harder to tune.
