New Bear recurves any good ??

Getting in to trad archery thinking of getting a bear. are the new bows any good? are they made in fla. or mich.? thanks Roger

I don't have any experience with the modern Bear bows, but I shoot the older ones I've got and they were made in 1955.  

As for where they are made, the modern ones are made in Florida.  The older Bears were made about 20 miles from where my wife grew up in Michagan.

I have a '05 Grizzly (50#@28") and love it.    I haven't shot a lot of the older ones to compare but I think its a smooth shooter.

Mine says it was made in FL.  I still remember visiting the Bear museum in Grayling when I was a kid.

Had a "new" Kodiak Magnum that I found no fault with. I've shot a few others and found no problems at all. Some say otherwise, stay tuned.

They are pricy for what ya get...IMO you can do alot better for the money!

I have 5 Bear bows. Some from Grayling, MI and some from Gainsville, FL.  They all shoot real good.  I have to agree though that they are too pricey new from the box.  You can find Grizzly's and K-Mags all day long on e-bay for good prices.

BTW..I have a new Custom TD that I wouldn't trade for the world.  It's a real shooter and faster than my old Grayling limbs.  I think as far as an investment a Custom TD is your best bet.

The new Bear bows shoot great. I have Grayling and Gainesville. I like them both, with the new one you don't have to worry about FF strings and they are smooth. Buy what you like, you don't have to buy the Supreme series. See if you can shoot some of them at different shops, that will help you decide. Here is a picture of my new Kodiak Custom Supreme.

Are the back and the belly the same on the limbs.  That sure is a PRETTY bow!  If I had the $,$$$.00 I would buy one too.

I have a newer Super Kodiak purchased from a retailer new last year.  I love the bow.  I also have an older Michigan made 35# Ranger that I purchased for my girlfriend.  It too is a real shooter.
As above, you could buy a new lower end custom bow for about the same price as a new Super K, or a nice used bow.  Choosing a new bow is tuff with all the options out there.  Good Luck.
