My friend's son is left handed but has been shooting a right handed bow. Now that the boy is getting older my friend would like to get a left handed bow to hunt with. The problem is the boy is having a horrible time switching from the bassackwards style of shooting to the correct way! I wish he hadn't let him go so long shooting that bow! Does any one know of someone who is a profficient shot shooting in this manner?? He has youth on his side and I don't think it would take him too long to learn the correct way though.

Wayne,
My son is a lefty, however he is right eye dominant so shoots the right way.
BTW, he shoots a 66" 60# longbow.

My brother is also a lefty. You could cut off his right arm it's so useless....ACCEPT he does shoot right handed. He is right eye dominant.

I should have made it clearer in the original post, he is shooting a right handed bow left handed!

Well then, I guess he will just to buy him a lefty bow  :goldtooth:  Change the bow not the boy.

ONE SHOT

If it works don't fix it, same applies to Archery shooting a Bow. He must be using His dominate eye to shoot. If He is accurate in His shot placements, then what difference does it really  make.

Some Archers can shoot with either hand equally well.

The difference it really makes is in your depth perception of the target at various distances. So if He is shooting where He is looking , you can't get any better than that. JMO....ONESHOT...  :)    :)    :)

Get him into the right bow and some good coaching. I started out that way as a kid a million years ago. When I switched the correct form with the correct bow things got better in a hurry. If you examine his arrows you will probably see that they are well scuffed up on the side adjacent to the bow. This is caused by the arrow slapping the bow as it passes. Trust me on this one. His long term prospects for accuracy will be very poor until he begins shooting correctly.
Old doesn't start until you hit three figures...and then it's negotiable
