Hello everyone, i shoot a bob lee signature bow, 57# @28 and i draw 27 1/2. I was thinking of trying some beman arrows and was wondering what size i should get, the beman chart says 400 and i know all the charts are on the heavy spine side, do you guys think i should go with what the chart recommends or go with the 500's. My arrow length that i shoot is 29 inches. Thanks for any help guys.

I had a lee about the same weight and draw. I shot a 29 inch Axis 400 with 225 grain points and they flew real well. Bareshafted well also.

If you have enough weight up front, I think a 400 would work. I had them bareshafting well from a 54#@28" Black Widow longbow with a 100 grain brass insert and a 200 grain point. That took my finished arrow weight up to around 645 grains, which is what I was going for. Good Luck-Mike

I would think 400's is a good choice.A bow cut past center usally requires a stiffer spine then a bow that isn't.With carbon arrows and trad bows I don't worry about the length.I bare shaft them with the point weight I'm looking for good flight and grouping I want. And the total arrow weight I need and the length is what it is.I've seen alot of carbons for sale that were cut too short and you can't get them to fly right no matter how much weight you add or what you do.You may need 100 gr. inserts or you might not.A Beman MFX Classic 400 at 29.5 BOP with 100 gr. insert & 125 gr. point will you a 560 gr. arrow. But I would recommend bareshafting them to get the flight you want. You will be alot happier with them then just cutting them to 29" and then trying to tune them from there.Arrow charts will put you in a ballpark but still there are alot of varibles in arrow tuning to the individual shooter.

I shoot 56 lb at 28" modern ff recurve drawn 28" with 29"  Beeman 400s with 250 grians head weight.  This makes a 560 grain arrow that shoots real nice.

So I think the 400 should work well for you.  Start tuning with the full length arrow and head weight you want to use and trim until it is tuned.  Then you will be all set.

I use the 400's for my 53# at 28 and also in my 64# at 28. Tips are anywhere from 175gr up to 285gr and they fly great outa both bows.

Steven,
On December 4th I picked up my Bob Lee Signature TD, it is 57# @ 28" with a 60" length. Both Rob Lee and Jon their partner in San Angelo, TX recommended the Beman MFX 500.  My draw length is 27".  If this helps any...

If you want a lighter set-up, you could most likely shoot the MFX 500s with 125gr tips. This would yield an arrow in the 450gr range(just over 8gpp). I can shoot my MFX 500s 31" with 125gr tips(460gr) from my ChekMate which is about 55@29 and get great flight. I hunt with heavier arrows(570gr) but not because I think 460gr is too light. This is a very fast set-up and yields a flatter trajectory.

Just something for variety.

It doesn't matter how or what you shoot, as long as you hit your target.

Have to agree with what has been said, if ya want weight go with the 400s cut to 29"s and load up the front(250-275 up front)If ya want a flatter shooting arrow the 500s as pseman said. Shawn

Jrsy, if you want them tough foot them with 1 1/2" of 2018 or 2020, mfx/axis arrows have a problem with "brooming" the tip end, footing stops it and they just may outlast you, provided you don't lose them,lol....Steve
