Unfortunately Momma was hit by a car the night before and this little one was left all alone.
I found him/her, never checked, hiding under a truck near the spot where the mother was killed. Pretty cool, never had a deer lick my hand before.

I called one of our animal control officers and had the little guy/gal taken to a whitetail shelter that we have here locally.

KILLER B

I pulled one out of a square link fence a couple of years ago. Little guy was just big enough where its hind quarters got caught.  As i was holding it reveling in the moment after he quit screaming bloody murder my brother was yelling at me to put it down. I could tell by the conviction in his voice that he was being very serious I turned and looked behind me and mom was standing on her hind legs about ten feet from me wielding her front hooves around like a couple of razor blades.  Needless to say I put him back on the other side of the fence. Neet experience anyway.

I've never picked up a baby fawn, that's cool.  Too bad about the doe.

We found these two at work right after the flood waters receded last July.  Where they are laying was under 10-12' of water the day before.  We didn't see momma but we left them there and didn't move them.  I took these pictures at a distance of about 10 feet and got lots closer for individual portraits.  They really acted unconcerned with us being that close.

Awesome! I was a humane officer and we had a doe we raised from a fawn when her mom was hit. She acted just like a dog. It was really neat.

Great photo

I have a friend that found a deer who lost his mom, he was a little nubby buck when they found him and they have been raising him ever since! He comes when they call him and even lives inside, he's 2 now and they had to cut his antlers off because he had a tendency to poke them when he wanted to be let outside. He's like a dog. I couldn't believe it when I heard it either until he showed me pictures of it eating crackers out of his dads mouth in their living room!!! I was shocked, it was awesome!

Very cool.  Brings back some memories.  Last year we pulled a less than 1 day old fawn (still had umbilical cord attached) from a fox as it dragged it across my folks yard.  Dang thing imprinted on my dad and was following him around the basement.  We were able to place it with a rescue group.  They had a doe that took the fawn in.  Two days later we had a doe that wouldn't leave.  Kept circling the yard and bedding.  The fox also hung around for almost a week.  It was pacing around looking for that fawn.  It would curl up in the back yard and nap.  I used to mess with it by sneaking out the side door and blowing a fawn call.  Thing went crazy looking for its lost meal.  Eventually, both left.

Thanks for the pic.

Mike, sorry I didn't see your post till just now, this shot was taken back in september if I recall.

Dennis,
Those are great photos.

Not too sure my dogs would go for having a deer living in the house with us, they're big doogs, but I think the deer would be bigger. Would be  a great conversation starter that's for sure!
