an old guy I know told me of a secret fishing spot in the swamp, the spot is marked by a bald cyprus tree, he said that all ten guys that were there were just barely able to link arms around it

Been down there numerous times over the years. The tree was dying, and I think a piece of it broke out several years ago. So its days were numbered!

I was supposed to go down and start working in that country tomorrow, but the highways are closed due to hundreds of trees blown across them!

There were 120+ mph winds not too far from there!

Its a great shame,, to loose some thing so old,, but it makes space for the younger ones,
lets hope they make some thing new and Beautifull from such old wood,, ( with a byist opinion, some arrows,)  and not just fire wood,

um that would be a good cause- to get some of the wood for making arrows. I know I wouldn't mind shooting arrows from that tree. It would be something to make a thread: "what I shot with my sitka specials.." or something like that. I think I will buy a lottery ticket and see if I can buy the tree ..   :archer:
THE VOICES HAVEN'T BOTHERED ME SINCE I STARTED POKING THEM WITH A Q-TIP.

Yeah, here in Oregon we have so many trees we just let them rot....lol. Heck, we have millions of board feet of timber standing after forest fires and the environs have it locked up. It is a real waste.
