Started with wood and killed first deer and pig with arrows I made myself in my workshop.

Had some carbon shafts given to me......and haven't looked back since.

Wheels.  I don't think you're going to find compressed cedars again.  I've been collecting Sweetland forge woods for the past 30-40 years, and, given my age, probably have enough now to last me.  

As far as I know, the Sweetland equipment is still for sale in Alaska. Don't know why someone hasn't tried to make a business out of it.  Though I've used shafts produced by running them through a compression block, they're not the same.  Mostly that process just burnishes the outside of the shaft, reducing the diameter one size, whereas the Sweetland process compressed the entire plank before sawing and doweling.
