Just received what I believe, is a very rare item, a complete set of Lobby cards for Howard Hills first movie, The Last Wilderness. Anyone seen a complete set of these before? Considering these cards are 82 years old, they are in very good shape. Have a few hours ahead of me, with Adobe Photoshop. I have digitized the images, now to remove all the pin holes, tears, creases and dirt. When finished, they will look like the day they were issued!

The owner of Rose City Archery (about 10 miles from my home) still has a bow that his dad bought for him from Howard himself! Howard taught him to shoot.

Speaking of old Hill bow finds, I have a friend who was on vacation out west with his wife and found an old souvenir shop.  When he went in he saw some old longbows hanging over the door and knew immediately that they were Hill bows--in fact, they were two of Howard's personal bows.  One was a yew self bow and I don't recall what the other was but it was made of bamboo.  Both still wore the original strings of barber's linen.  The owner had letters of authentication.  There was also a large trophy bearing Howard's name as the winner of an archery golf tournament.  The owner was pleased with my friend's interest and had a long discussion with him about how he came to acquire the bows.  Some time later my friend received the bows and trophy as a gift from the shop owner who realized that he would appreciate and preserve the bows.  From a collector's perspective that is a priceless gift. The owner's son had said that after the passing of the owner he had no interest in the old stuff and would just bulldoze the place.  I plan to go up to my buddy's place in a few days and fondle them.
The years accumulate on old friendships like tree rings, during which time a kind of unspoken care and loyalty accrue between men.
