6'6, 360lbs at the moment. Work always knocks a bit of that off during the summer, but still figure on close to 400lbs with gear.

Id like to get a hang on for next season, I think I will like the versatility. I've googled around a bit and saw the Screaming Eagle stands. Those will certainly hold me but look about as comfortable as just sitting on a branch.

They are also a bit heavy, but I suppose anything that will hold me can't be expected to be light.

Thoughts?

Chippewa wedge loc brutus maximus rated to at least 400 # and much bigger than eagle.  I have three wedge loc and 4 eagles, wedge lok much nicer.

TRAP

No experience with wedge loks but I spend a lot of hours in Screaming Eagles every Fall. Great stands.

As mentioned, the Brutus Maximus is a beast of a stand.  I recommend a seat cushion though, the standard seat leaves a lot to be desired for me anyway.
Take care,

I'm a big guy, also. My Chippewa stand could hold both of us--now wouldn't that be a sight.

Doc Nock

I had a River's Edge once that showed a guy in it and a 4x4 suspended beneath it... Unique design, but likely not made anymore.
The words "Child" and "terminal illness" should never share the same sentence! Those who care-do, others question!

Second Chippewa.  Their website use to have a video where they attached the stand to a metal pole- THEN hoisted a full 2000# vehicle up with the pulley attached to the stand.

With that said- at 400# I would be very cautious about using any hang-on tree stand.  Perhaps you should stick with ladders and tripods- even then I would be very cautious.

Bears can attack people- although fewer people have been killed by bears than in all WWI and WWII combined.

I'm "only" around 330 but I'm just 6'4". I use the millenium loc on with the bracket and chain. I also put a ratchet strap around the bottom. solid as a rock and you wont find a more comfy stand. I think the weight limit states 350?? but not 100% sure but Id feel safe in it no problem

Screaming Eagles are bullet proof strong.  I replaced the seat with 5\\8" plywood 18" x 16", then sit on a 2" foam seat.....super comfortable and safe when you safety strap onto tree.

Yep Screaming Eagle, one of their ads had a Volkswagon hanging off it

Big guys sure don't bounce when they fall outta the air. If the lay of the land allows I'd seriously look at a gillie suit and stay on the ground.
