Hey guys, I am back after a 10 year training  wheel obsession.  I decided traditional is the way.  But a lot of my archery muscles are gone.  I used to be able to pull 70 pound longbows no problem.  Now I recently found 50 pounds to be to much.  I sold my wheel bows and bought a 45 pound bear montana.  I feel like I'm relearning how to walk which is exciting.

My arrows I'm trying out (haven't come in yet) are 400 spine cut to 30 inches with 50 grain brass inserts and 100 grain 2 blades, about 450 grain total.

Do a lot of guys prefer heavy inserts and moderate heads like what I'm looking to use or heavy broad heads and standard inserts?        glad to be back.

Welcome back. I have used both but if I'm going for heavy weight up front I use my 75 grain steel screw in adapters with my Razorheads. Gets me about 190grains which is plenty for whitetail hunting. My arrows always come out around 550. Heavy inserts can get pricey but they are nice.

Welcome back and enjoy that Montana!

I've adopted too many bows that needed a good home.

Welcome! You'll really like the Montana. As to your question: I prefer to have the weight in my broadheads if I can although I really like the gold tip 50gr aluminum inserts for the extra length.
