Ive always used wraps for my arrows but figured id give cresting a try on my newest set. Now i didnt want to spend an arm and a leg on dip tubes and a cresting jig not to mention all the paints. After some reading on here i decided to do the krylon and sharpie version using white paint for the cap and red, black and silver sharpies for the crest. Well i was sitting here looking at my supplies while the caps dried and trying to figure how i was going to do the cresting stripes when i got an idea. I took some masking tape and wrapped it around another arrow for testing and then placed it in my bitz fletcher. I measured out where i want my lines on the fletching clamp and use it for a guide for my sharpie as i turn the arrow with the dial. It works absolutely perfect. Once my paint cures ill do one up and post a picture.

Sounds like a good idea. It would be neat to see the results.

I've rigged up a 8x32 screw and some 2x4's with my dremmel for a make shift crester. I've had the thing finished for a long time, but just never have gotten around to doing it.

That is why I get on Tradgang! Can't wait to see the results!

That's cool. I use all types of paints and with lacquers still being my favorite I have tried other methods like paint markers and sharpies. The purpose is to customize your arrows so a lot of things work. Have fun and I can't wait to see how they turned out

Same here. Got some arrows that need to get done and can't wait to see them for some ideas

I buy plain wraps and crest them. I started doing it that way after a disappointing disaster trying to dip carbons in Fletch Laq. I put a coat of water based Polycrillic over the crest for some protection.

I use krylon for the cap and a drill to spin the shafts for cresting.  Works great for me
