Shooting 45# Super Kodiak. 50# at my 30 inch draw. The bow is cut to center. I have some 60-65s POC full length with 145 gr points and 155 Grizzly broadheads. After a couple coats of stain and a sealer they shoot weak bare shafted (hit left of target, I shoot lefty). My form is pretty good and release is good. It bareshaft shoots GT 400 carbons dead on. I thought the 60-65s would be about the same but nope. I love the feel of the wood arrows and they actually shoot quieter also. When fletched they shoot OK at best but I can see the fletch really working to straighten them in flight. Do they make wood in a heavier spine? Seems like those charts can't be trusted. Any ideas on your recurve set up to compare? Any feedback appreciated.

Orion

I'm surprised the 60-65# POCs don't work for you, but yes, they do make heavier spined POCs, up to 90# or more, depending on the diameter of the shaft.

BTW, .400 deflection in a carbon arrow measured the way Easton does it -- 1.94# weight at 28 inches -- equals about 78# spine.

You might try 65-70 or even 70-75# wood shafts.  Most suppliers have a test kit of shafts of different spines you can buy.  Good luck.

Id bet 60-65 IS weak. Im with Orion, either a 65-70, or 70-75.

Thanks for the insight, I have some 65-70s and 70-75s coming. The weaker shafts I will use for the Sage takedown. All of the ones mentioned shoot ok with fletch, just wanna get the most efficient energy imparted to the arrow as possible. I really enjoy building the wooden arrows. Thanks again
