how do you guys prevent the string from interfering with loose clothing, i was out shooting with my baggy sweatshirt on and it kept hitting the extra material?
aim small miss small

Shadowhnter

I use 3 or 4 rubber bands spaced at intervals up my bow arm.

Pat B

I wear my arm guard every time I shoot. With my loose style of shooting I rarely hit my arm with the string but I wear the arm guard to prevent the string from hitting a loose sleeve.

YosemiteSam

Sometimes I twist my sleeve up so that it's tighter around my arm.  As a teenager, I used to use a full length arm guard.  Still hit my clothing sometimes, though.

Orion

I wear an extra long arm guard of my own making that covers most of my upper arm as well,

I have to use an arm guard whenever I shoot... short sleeves... long sleeves... coat... doesn't matter...

While hunting I also use a chest protector like the "target" guys use... helps keep heavy layers tucked tight... yep... I get the normal comments... but I don't have any string interference either...

Jonathan

Link to one from 3 Rivers...  there are cheaper options... you just have to hunt around...

so im not going crazy hitting my sweatshirt sleeve?
aim small miss small

Jasper2

I use a compression sleeve.  It is made of spandex and smashes everything down.
Take care,

You have never heard of an arm guard? Hmmmm!

Longtoke

I do the same as Shadowhntr, mostly because I don't like having to tote the arm guard around, just another thing to loose out in a pasture.  I just keep a fistfull of rubberbands on my quiver. and put them where ever I need to keep my shirt out of the way.

SELFBOW19953

I've been shooting longbows and recurves since 1960 and I've never used an arm guard.  Am I doing something wrong???

Sam McMichael

I use an arm guard to compress my bow arm sleeve. I don't wear clothing loose enough for my string to hit my shirt in the chest area.

Lancaster archery has these sleeve type arm guards . Really works good to keep your bow arm clean and clear .

cut the leg off one of ur wifes pantyhose and use as much of it as u need...cheep and effective

NBK

Rubber bands. Only use an arm guard if I'm shooting an ASL with a low brace.

My string catches on my chest area when I'm in baggier clothes.  I've found that backpack straps, binocular straps, or a treestand safety harness help a lot to compress it all against my chest.  Or I wear a vest over everything else that is tight enough to compress things out of the way.
Life is a whole lot easier when you just plow around the stump.

X2  Just cut the toe out and they work great. When finished with it, I just roll it down the sleeve and it is ready for the next time.

I sew the seam tighter of my bow arm and side on my outer bow hunting cloths.

reddogge

I sewed two elastic bands which compressed the coat in the upper arm. Haven't had to use them in a long time though.

The first shot that I took while wearing my Bush in a Bag, I had to use a compass to find my way out of there.    A stretchy belt around my chest with a a little arm and shoulder area trimming fixed the problem.   With my wool coats I never have a problem.
