What tool do you use to taper 1/4" youth wood shafts?  Every taper tool I find online is either 5/16 or 11/32.

I made a block and used my disk sander.  It works better then any pre made tool IMHO.

I think the bearpaw tool can be had with a 1/4" insert also.

How many shafts do you need?  I have a plenty that I need to get rid of.  You pay shipping and i'll gladly send them to you as long as they are for someone and not for profit.

PM me if you want them, bud.

I use a pencil sharpener for the tip my boy's arrows.
And a 5/16 tool to get the nock taper.

Jonathan,

I've got one (the type from the 60s with a cutter for the point and one for the point with an insert) that I'll never use.  PM me you address and I'll send it to you first thing in the morning.

I used my taper tool with a 5/16 collar.  Worked fin for the level of shooting my 3 year old is capable of.

Tru Center II taper tool.

Or, a 5/16 pencil type and use masking tape to wrap around the 1/4 " shaft about 3/4 inch back from the tip. You will find a certain length piece works to make to dowel fit nicely. Make a note of the length for next time.

edit:

just tried it...about a 9" piece worked for me.Wrap the tape so it is wrapped with the rotation you'll need for the tool.

The Gang has it.  Tape around a 5/16" shaft like Bud did or as he mentioned the Tru Center II has available 1/4" guides if you need them.
