he must be too busy,, I sent him a PM on 6/6 which he read but I never heard back and I know he is slammed with bow orders and works alone....

it really doesn't matter who does it but a few pounds off and then I need a better finish on it because the very outer spray finish on it is cracking,, I need something tougher that will hold up to this "one extreme to the other" type weather we get in NE

Check with The Bow Hospital and possibly Mike Ballenger of 7 lakes.

Those are some ugly marks on the bow.  What are you doing to the poor thing?

What type of bow is it and how many pounds do you want to lose (starting to sound like a Weight watcher's meeting).

Sorry,  I see by the thread title that it's an ASL.

So, how many pounds?

The only way to get an answer out of James is to call him.  With one eye, and his disdain for computers and typing.....just ring him up.

If James isn't able to refinish or reduce your bow, consider Craig at Howard Hill Archery. He refinished and reduced my Hill bow at a great price and it only took a few weeks.

Tom Parsons at Kimsha Archery, in Maryland, could likely do it.

thanks for the posts,,, its 56lbs now and wouldn't mind getting it to 48lbs in order for me to keep it..

the finish marks showed up late in November as I stump shot out of the woods,, it was very cold out.. arrows where wilderness cedars with 160's I think around 600gr.

the finish marks are only the final spray on coat I believe the flat or matt finish to dull the bow,, you can pick at it with your fingernail like its not sticking to the layer under it.

after those marks showed up it never got worse,, that happened one day and I've been shooting it for a year with no additional marking.

I will be contacting those additional numbers you guys posted thanks.

IMHO I don't think there is any way you're getting to 48# safely with your bow. Most bowyers will tell you  maybe 10%. Some won't risk taking more than 3-4 # off a bow. I'd be very wary of anyone claiming he could get you to 48#.

Tajue17

well today I took the 220 grit right to the back of the limbs myself and just as suspected that finish came right off,,, took me about a 1/2 hr to do an entire limb.

bow is fine now as far as those marks they are gone, put 4 coats of satin poly over the limbs and they look as good as they did when I got the bow.

not going to bother dropping weight I'm just going to move on from the bow I think.
