Yesterday and a day after coordinating a delivery with my local postal carrier to drop the package off at the general store, the first 68" Super D made arrived in Sandpoint Idaho. After a quite a few emails and talking on the phone about making a 68" version, Dan surprised me with an email stating that Jared was going to start working on the form blocks in the next couple days- this was early June. If you have tried this bow and are a fan of the ASL style, you already know what a wonderfull version this bow is. Now that the limbs are stretched out a bit with subtle changes in the riser fade lengths and width at the fades outs, this bow really feels right for those near and beyond a 30" draw. Of course the 66" version is fully capable but this is just the icing. I'll try to upload pics here that show it in comparison to my 66" model. This bow fellas is incredibly smooth and quick and a tad quieter than the 66" version. Yeah, hows that possible??? Probably because of less limb travel but you get my point hopefully. The Whip has some serious competition gents. And as always, the fit and finish sets the standard.

In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

Examples of the craftsmanship:
Honduran Rosewood riser.

Core woods are bamboo with strip's of Yew( on request-usually air dried walnut) and a strip of heat treated maple in the center. I know he usually reserves the heat treated maple for the compression side on all of the other super d bows but we went with a bamboo lam on the belly for this.

Exemplary Myrtle veneer on the back!

That is awesome Todd!  Way to go for helping bring this to fruition.  I'll look forward to a video or two of you shooting it.

Very nice, afraid I'm to enamored with the little Pika to go long any time soon.

The increased reflex is apparent.Compared to the 66".I like the unstrung profile.Looks like it might have a tad more preload or tension on the string at brace hieght and be a tad snappier.I bet it dampens out quick. To produce a quiet shot.

Steelhead,
Your right about it recovering quicker and being a bit snappier. The 66 it's next to is the old style which changed limb profile last May. All new ones have a touch more reflex towards the ends like this 68. I have a newer 66 same # as the 68 but the 68 improves upon the characteristics I prefer for a 30" draw in this style bow. Anyone in the market for a 68" ASL would be crazy to pass this model up. I know that someday I'll need surgery on my bow arm shoulder and overshooting certain bows aggrevates the inflammation. This one doesn't, which is saying something for an ASL.
