yesterday i made my first trad kill, a trad kill @ that!! ive only been shooting for about two months, and my prey.... a squirrel... not just any squirrel, the energizer squirrel, it ran from me for nearly an hour with its insides hangin out. grose i know but never the less, it was awsome! now if i could just get one of those elusive creatures.... the white tail deer....

bentpole

If you can wack a squirrel then a Whitetail should be no problem Bud!Good luck and good hunting!

Congrats.

Squirrels are tough. I haven't shot many (shot at plenty) But one I shout got pinned to the ground with my arrow. He flipped and flipped untill he came off the arrow. He was basicaly gutted like yours. He then ran around the base of a tree a couple times and then tried to run up the tree. he didn't make it to far. I was impressed with how tough he was.

"instinctive archery" is more like playing the violin. Without practice you may remember the mechanics, but you will not be a virtuoso.

I would like to say Excellent job on sticking with the recovery! Many people after 20-30 minutes of followup would have said " It's only a squirrel." But a living thing is a living thing and deserves out respect be it squirrel or Elk. Very classy, Nice job.

Great Job Kris!!! I have to admit though, watching that squirrel unwind it's innards all over that tree was pretty disgusting.   :clapper:
