Bitter sweet.

It all started back in the spring. I got a call from Jim Neaves from centaur archer. My name had came up on the list. I gave him all the specifics, and a few weeks later I had it in hand. I practiced with it during the summer preparing for this occasion.

My day started about 4:30 yesterday morning. I was meeting a fellow tradganger for a moring hunt. I arrived at his house about 5:30, and we planned out the hunt. I climbed up my tree an hour before daylight. Just as it was getting light enough to see the ground I could hear two deer walking my way. As some of you know Tim has a pet deer running around on his property. She is sporting two bright red dog collars. I didn't think it would ever get daylight enough to tell what was standing under my tree. I waited and waited to make sure it wasn't Zoey, or a small buck. The best I cold tell they where two "does". I made the decision to take one if it presented the shot.

The deer worked ther way to my left. I waited for the biggest deer to turn broadside. I tried to pick a spot didnt see anything that stood out on her side. So I just looked behind her left shoulder and drew my bow. The string slipped through my fingers and the arrow sailed over her back. The just jumped a hi orthopedic distance so I took another arrow from my quiver. The big doe stepped back out in the open so I drew and before knew it the arrow was gone. I have no clue where the arrow went. The deer jumped and ran up the hill and stood for a minute, then walked off. As she walked off I the other deer stepped back into the opening. I took the third arrow from the quiver and noticed a dark spot just behind the right shoulder, so I drew to anchor and watched the arrow disappear throughout the spot. The deer ran off throughout thw woods and crashed a short distance away.

I sat in the stand until around 10:00. When I saw Tim working his way down the ridge toward me.

After inspecting the arrow it was determined that the first deer was just grazed. The arrow had a little fat and hair but no blood or gut material. Tim wanted to go back to his house and get his new tracking puppy Ximo. After a short tracking job we recovered my deer but it was a button buck.

Congrats. When I looked at the first picture, I was going to ask why you only a one blunt in the quiver. Now I know...you were out of bullets.

Yeah down to one arrow. And a judo. Great leason learned. This is only my second trad deer. I just have to pick a spot. Sometimes its hard to pick a spot on a deer. The first doe was light brown without anything to shoot at. Not a tuff of hair or discolord area. I need to figure something out. I was hoping by shooting a lot of 3-D tournaments it would help.
