I'd like to see the crossbow become the more challenging alternative to gun season, not the least challenging way to hunt during archery season.
Life is a whole lot easier when you just plow around the stump.

Well stated. Our regs used to define a bow as "hand held, hand drawn". Just because a machine can launch a projectile with feathers or vanes does not make it a "bow", that is in my way of thinking.

I am not against he use of any legal weapon, but I do think there should be separate seasons for each type. JMHO

James, "if the projectile has feathers/vanes it's archery", then anyone throwing darts at a dartboard is an archer. And in my opinion again, that's not stretching it any farther than to consider someone with a crossbow an archer.

I got friends who hunt with trad, compounds, and even crossbows. They are still all my friends. I don't care what a guy uses, as long as he is out there and doing it legally.

That being said, I'm pretty sure I have the most fun!

Well put!

I'd love to see crossbows legal for minors in regular archery season as well

In my home area presently archery season has two areas that are archery only for the entire season. They are both around 25 miles in areas around the two major cities....then most other areas have a archery season precluding the rifle season...Crossbows are not part of the archery season unless you are disabled...(doctor note saying you cannot pull a bow ...(some people do abuse that however) I don't think crossbows are archery either...If you want to hunt with friends or family with any weapon of your choice , you can do so in the rifle season here as it allows all legal weapons in the rifle season. I think we have to be careful with the regulations how they evolve ...An example of this is the black powder/bow/shotgun season that was initiated in Alberta many years ago. The idea of the season is that all were short range weapons to be used in areas where populations of deer and humans were high...then technology made the black powder like a modern day rifle and hunters were and are taking 200 yard shots.....
Technology is great for sure....but use it wisely...JMHO

I also apologize as the thread original intent was about attitude....I agree lets stick together as hunters regardless of weapon choice , But honor each others specific seasons and choices...

As a traditional archer, I know I stand on the highest pedestal among fellow hunters. It is a pretty nice view from way up here. Some people have lost a lot of hair.  :)
