My unique harness safetly line set up

I have had tons of people ask me about my harness connection line that they see in my videos.

There's an easier way to connect to the tree and adjust the slack out of your line. Rather than attaching the rope directly to your harness, use the carabiner to attach the tether to your harness. Wrap the tether around the tree and feed the whole rope through the larger of the end loops. Your rope is now attached to the tree. Now clip the carabiner to your harness. Use the Prussic knot to remove the slack by sliding it up the rope until it snugs against the tree. I set it so that it just allows me to sit in the stand without pressure on the rope. It's quicker to adjust than having to tie a knot in the line to remove the slack.

If I'm following Steve correctly, I believe that I use the same method as he does.  As mentioned, it is very quick indeed and adjustable without the need for any knots. Basically, it is a shorter version of how a "life-line" system is typically set up.

+3  I like that method cause I can adjust the length in the stand.  I like my strap tight when I sit down.

I tried the way you guys are talking about when i first started using a rope system. It does work great. I personally dont like the prusic knot and extra carabiner on there and it usually ends up right behind my head. I also dont like having 2 carabiners as one of them was always rattling against my tree stand on the hike in or out. So this system was simple fast and fully adjustable plus its easy to avoid rattles and it ties up and out of the way fast for the walk in and out.

Lots of different ways to do it and always like to hear of new ways!

Hmmm. I only have the one carabiner. No rattling. Jason's life line comparison is spot on. I tie it up like you do for transport too.

When I did it I had a carabiner on the prussic connected to my harness and then another carabiner on the end of the rope to go around the tree. So I needed 2 carabiner for how I did it. Not sure how to do it with one and still be able to extend farther from the tree and not have the rope tight around the tree. Show some pics or a video of the set up. I love my system and have been using it for years. But always interested in new ideas.

This is how I do it.  This rope is a little longer than normal because this happens to be the one that I hang from in my Aero hunter evolution saddle.  

The only difference is really the Blake's hitch instead of the prussic and the fact that I feed the rope through the loop twice to prevent sliding.  The carabiner stays on my harness when using this setup with treestands.

I do it similar to LB HNTR but instead of knotting into the tether I just loop it thru the tether and back into the caribiner. Sort of splits the distance on the extra rope length But still leaves plenty to move around. Works great for me on about 90% of the trees I hunt from.

I set up a safety line sometimes but in some trees I like the line around the trunk too.  I like this method and and I think I'll give it a try.  I'd probably use a figure "8" instead of an overhand knot.
