Your broadheads look like they have been subjected to some serious heat.  Did they get hot while mounting them?

Beautiful arrows guys!  When my boys get a little older, I will have the time to get into making my own woodies...but I don't really want them to grow up anytime soon.

dnovo, what are you shooting those broadheads into?

Best of luck on the moose hunt!  Can't wait to read about the trip!

Walt Francis

Those are some great looking arrows.
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

Big Lefty, I have a big block of styrfoam that is about 3'x3'x8' that I use for broadhead practice and testing.

How is the flame cresting done?  I have seen a flame applied to a shaft for random markings, but those are really cool.

dhaverstick

Flame cresting is done with a butane torch and these three brass templates made by Jerry Shriver of Shriver Archery. You can still buy them from Kustom King ( http://www.kustomkingarchery.com/Flame-Crester/productinfo/A3300/ ) but I know Jerry is working on putting up a new website to sell them and he's also making a how-to dvd. It takes a little practice to get the hang of it but the results sure look cool.

2bird, I'm shooting a R/D Tall Timbers longbow that pulls 55# @ 28".
