For those who have previously hunted the McAlester Ammo Plant there will be someting missing this year.  Bill Starry retired as of July 1st. For 34+ years he managed a whitetail herd which may be the best in the country by setting only traditional equipment hunts. He was a super person that related so well to the hunters( 1500+ each year) and will definitely be missed.

I have to admit Bill was part if the hunt. I was lucky enough to have met him and talked to him several times. Mcaap will not be the same.

I agree with culleng, Bill Starry was a big part of the Mcaap experience and it won't be the same without him. But I'm sure he had a big part in who took over for him and I hope they care about the hunt as much as Bill did.

I will miss his stump speeches.  I laughed so hard one year when he was making fun of guys running monofilament line through the woods to find their tree stands.  He recommended another approach!
He will be missed!

I always liked his speech about finding you out of your designated area.

That will be a big change this year. I greatly enjoyed his speeches. Just like jt85 mentioned, his comments about lost vs. "lost" were always good for a laugh. There is a good article in the Tulsa World about his retirement. (Nice to see the outdoor writer's picture features trad gear.)

I agree, Bill was a one of a kind and will be missed. But the hunt must go on, Ryan will do a good job to. I'll be there Oct 22 to find out.
