Need help finding a longer bowfishing arrow

Tall Paul

Hello all,

I recently bought a new bow, reel, and arrow to have my own dedicated bowfishing rig. But the longest fiberglass arrow I can find is 31.5" from the valley of the nock to the back of the fish point. Unfortunately, this is too short as I can't come to full draw without the point hitting the bow.

Does anyone have a source for longer shafts or any ideas that might help?

Thanks for any advice or ideas, Paul

You can buy a drive way reflector mounted on a 5/16" solid fiberglass rod at Lowes or Homedepot.

I've got one that I got in a trade that's 33" from nock groove to the back of the point.

Not sure of the arrow brand but the point says longhorn on it. Arrow shaft is orange.

I would check with some of the Bowfishing supply places. I'll PM you a couple of names.

Check out your local feed store for fiberglass fencing stakes. i believe those are 36" in length.

Thanks for all the ideas guys! I've looked at the driveway and fencing stakes, but they look to be a lot bigger diameter. I need to find out what diameter the point requires.

Thanks for the names bretto; I didn't know there were outfits that made custom bowfishing arrows.

Hmmm, I couldn't find anything by googling 33" fish arrows.  Before I started the thread, I googled it every way I could think of.  Apparently, the shafts all come 32", and after the nock is tapered and the overlapping point is installed, the longest I could find was 31.5" (valley of nock to back of point). Thanks anyway.

I saw one that was 36" on **** but reading on it, that included the 4" tip! So be careful if you order some....

You can search for fiberglass rods on-line,  I did that a few years back and you can get some real deals if you buy more than just one or two.  A little research and reaching out might net you some good arrow shafts.

Thanks for the help guys!

I bought some aluminum Nock Adapters made by AMS Bowfishing Company that should add about 1.2" in length to the shaft. They're designed to allow the use of press-in nocks. Hopefully this will give me just enough to hit full draw.

If not, I'll try buying some fiberglass rods and going that route.

I use driveway marker rods from Lowes, same size as my real fish arrows. And a lot cheaper, only about $2.50 each.

Tall Paul, I've used those adapters .
Be sure to keep extra nocks or glue them in.

Thanks macbow! That would be a real bummer to be out shooting fish and lose your only nock!

Longrifle was right! Lowes and Home Depot sell the same product that should be perfect.

It's a 48" driveway marker thats 5/16.  Here's a link:
