Hi everyone! Finally managed to get a permanent position in the Natural Resource Industry, and it has brought me to the Torrington, Wyoming area. Renting a place on a ranch out of town, so that works great for a little stump shooting, but I'm looking for people to go shooting with as well as looking for any advice on hunting this area that anyone can give. Currently, I'm considering a NR mule deer tag around here and maybe an antelope tag in the Casper area...Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Welcome to WY Elkhunter752 check out cheyennefieldarchers.com it is a little bit of a drive but they have three D shoots durning the week and very good outdoor shoot coming up this summer. It is a all inclusive club but there are several trad shooters. Used to be a club in Douglas not sure if they are still around, but not sure of anything closer to you (dont forget Nebraska). A tag in that area will mean nocking on doors to get permisson to hunt mostly private land, but it is duable a friend of mine got permission just out of town there last year for whitetail. Never hunted for goats near Casper so no info for you except I dont put in for any area that doesnt have a buch of BLM, State, or NF even if I have to drive half way across the state, just me.
Welcome and hope to see you at a shoot some time.

Welcome to the area Dillon. Jack gave you some great advice already. Few walk in areas around you for deer but mostly whitetail. Casper has good antelope hunting. We can defiantly get together sometime and shoot some arrows though.

Welcome to the area  EH!

I'm in Red Feather, CO just over the border from WY but we think of ourselves as Wyomingites.  I'm in Cheyenne or Laramie pretty often so have been meaning to hit the Cheyenne shoots myself.

Great part of the country.

This all sounds great! I'll definitely be at some of the Cheyenne shoots. I sure appreciate the advice! Thank you all!

As those guys were saying. The CFA put on a great 2 day shoot. We attend. I think this year well camp instead of driving back and forth. Hope to see you there!

Look at area 63 for goats. When I hunted them, most of my hunting was there. Lots of public ground, but ranches allow access, at least they used to. Pathfinder Ranch, Dumbell, and Sun were always friendly towards bowhunters. But there is lots and lots of BLM, too.
If you don't like cops, next time you need help, call Al Sharpton

Thanks for the advice guys! Matty, I think I'll definitely be there. I missed the Fawn Creek Traditional Shoot back in Montana this year and have been dying to go camp out at a good 2 day shoot.
Centaur, I'll definitely look into that area! The advice is much appreciated.

I lived in Torrington in 2009-2010.  Having grown up in the mountains, I hated it.  As flat and windy as it was, I managed to have alot of fun shooting my bow. The Goshen County gun club had a gutted mobile home full of 3d targets, mostly Rhinehart, that I could shoot whenever I liked because I was a club member.  Cheyenne Field Archers put on some of the best indoor 3d shoots I've ever been to, and the sad, 85 mile drive was worth it.  There were some good indoor shoots in Alliance NE too, I'm sure they're still going on.

Brent, that's exactly the situation I'm in. I'll definitely check into the gun club. I've heard pretty good things about them. I'll definitely be going to some of these 3D shoots. I've never done an indoor 3D shoot before, all outdoor. Thanks for the advice!
