Got some new target shafts on the way and will be fletching them with feathers. So, with all the changes in adhesives these days, (none for the better it seems..   :(  ), what is the glue to use?

Is Saunders NPV still OK? That is one that has been a recommended in the past.

It's what I use these days. More dependable than the Bohning stuff anymore.

Thanks Charlie, that's good to know.

I use Flex Bond adhesive made by Flex Fletch products.  I have had no issues with this glue on aluminum arrows fletching directly to the shaft with no wrap.  It is like a cross between the old good Bohning "white" tube glue and Saunders NPV.

used to use glues, but too many feathers came off on impact on aluminum.  Been using the double sided tape for 8 or 10 years now on aluminum and have never had a feather come off on impact.

Saunders NPV glue on bare alum shafts. I do scrub the shafts with comet cleanser and hot water. Old cleaning method but still works. Once clean and dry I do not touch area to be fletched with bare hands. If not fletching right away I wrap the shafts with the green plastic wrap. I know I may be alttle Ana.... Retentive but this has worked for me since forever.

My same experience.  The glue does not turn hard and brittle.  On my second tube of NPV since switching from Platimum Fletch-Tite.  I have some of the tape and while it is quick, I have to run a finger nail down the back of the quill to ensure full contact bond.
Not sure how the tape will hold up in warmer temps.

Thanks for all the tips guys. I do know that fletch tape has held up pretty well with the 4H kids arrows over the years but just wasn't sure that my fat fumble(y) fingers could maneuver it very well.

Tape baby! I fletched maybe 6 dozen aluminums with tape and they have held up to some serious abuse.

Hey Paul a 3" vise holds the feather clamp so your fat and as mine do shake crazely lets you use TWO hands to apply the tape.

I use wraps, so Bohning Platinum works fine.

I've had no trouble with Fletch Tite w/o wraps. Probably gonna try NPV to see how the shelf life holds out.

X2 what Sirius said, and it makes them easier to find in the rare event of a miss:)

Dip them first in lacquer and the platinum works perfect.....
or get some wraps and you can use different glues (including platinum) on them.
Save yourself headaches and avoid the tape.....When I gave it a go,  I did everything I should have in regards to prep,  temp of tape storage,  you name it.  The stuff didn't hold and was a nightmare. I know some guys swear buy it....I thought I liked it at first....till my fletching started popping off.  Glue has never let me down.  Infact,  Platinum has never let me down.  At least 15 dozens made up between friends and family over the past few years....no failures!  Just sayin..........

I use tape. There are a few fletched arrows I made up that are over 10 years old and the taped-on feathers are still attached.
