Foam sanding block and water works great

I have been playing around with a Gold Tip 1535 cut to 30 1/2" long with standard insert 3 5" fletch out of a 43# RER that I draw 28 1/2.  They fly great with a 150 point.  Let us know how it works out  I think Big Jim put your on the right course.

Surewood shafts are great!  Give them a call and they will point you in the right direction.  If you haven't tried wood you're in for a treat---of course I shoot both and really like the gold tips too...

I remove all the markings on my Gold Tip blems EXCEPT for the spine designation - 1535, 3555, etc. It's so small it's almost unnoticeable once the rest of the markings are gone, but about the only way I have to identify the various shafts once I put a wrap and fletching on. I cover the "1535" with a small piece of masking tape, then wipe the rest of the markings off with some fine steel wool and acetone.
