It came in the mail today with some points and inserts. I also ordered a book. Art La Ha , A Northwoods Legend. I will begin reading it tonight. I know he did a lot for bow hunting seasons so Im looking forward to the read.

Art was a character.   Members of my club used to go up there almost annually.  I went in 1977 and hunted with Art, in the blue Goose bus, met Marge.  Hunted right next to Roy Case.  Yup, I remember that hunt.  Lots of stories.

When you hunted with Art in his N. WI camp, it was generally a group hunt.  He had an old school bus, painted almost robin egg blue.

Of course, if you knew the area, you could go off and hunt on your own, but generally, We would eat breakfast, make sandwiches to go, and jump into the bus.

He would  drive us to various blocks of public timber ( lots of that up there), where we would conduct drives.  Each of the blocks were named, some bore quite colorful names.

He calculated the wind, and the stars and the moon and slowly circled the block, letting off standers on the downwind side and drivers on the upwind side.  Now. .  he liked to have fun.

He almost never actually STOPPED the bus.  Of course, for the elders he did, but for us young bucks, we grabbed out gear, lined up on the aisle, and patiently waited.

He would drive and say " go,  go,   go. . . " and you jumped OFF and hustled into position in the woods edge.  It was a thing of beauty.

Of course, you had to watch, cause sometimes he said "go" just as we were approaching a tree, or a ditch, and of course, being the good little "young" hunter, you just went !
