Storing Broadheads

I am always looking for a better way to store my broad heads at home and also when traveling on a hunt.  Lets's see what you all are using.  I need some good suggestions.

I have no photos, but using two pcs of foam rubber in a small clear plastic fishing box works great. You can find em in the fishing dept by the fishing boxes.

That's a great tip from Kirk, and I would add some kind of rust preventative. I like to use Bore Butter. No issues with broadheads dulling or rusting over time.

I haven't flown with my gear yet, but for road trips I keep a small tacklebox.  It holds all my broadheads, judos, extra inserts/nocks, fletch tape, serving, lighters, sharpening stuff, a couple kinds of glue and a couple kinds of tape.  It has saved my rear end more than once!!

I use those red plastic boxes that sabbot bullets for muzzle loaders. I just take the broadheads and stick them down in the Styrofoam thats in the boxes. It hold the heads in place where tbey wont rattle or bang against each other. The are pretty stout boxes that keep them from poking thru.

I just use vaseline for keeping rust off. I use it in my quiver foam too....Oregon is terrible for things rusting up quickly. the vaseline works well.

Chap stick is good for rust prevention also.

I have an old spinner bait plastic box and I cut a piece of 1" Styrofoam to fit in the bottom. I poked a bunch of holes in it and put my broadheads in insert down. The ones with no insert I just push in blade first.

While at Trad Expo in Kalamazoo this year, I picked up a low temp melting plastic type coating called "Head Dip". You melt it in the container and dip the edges in - sort of like the plastic dip they put on plier handles, only thinner. I've seen similar green material on the tips of step drill bits.

I haven't had a chance to try it yet, but I hope to be able to put a razor edge on my broadheads during the "off" season and have them still razor sharp come fall. The coating peels right off and if you do it very carefully, you can probably put it back on again. If not, it can be recycled back into the container for re-use.

I'll do a product report after I've had a chance to touch up my broadheads, coat them and then let them sit a few months.

I had my Buddy, who is an excellent leathersmith, make me up a "broadhead wallet"...I told him to make it like a trucker's wallet, but to hold 6 Zwickey Deltas, and here's what he made me...the BHs just slide into the triangular slots, and then you fold the flap over and around both sides & tie it closed...it is SWEET!

***note; for the photo, I pulled the BHs out a little, they slide in all the way before folding the flap over.
