Yeah he's  a lefty, that's how he got to use Freds' bow at Grouse Haven.  Just saw his display at the archery museum at Bass Pro, on another post.

You are a talented artist! My grandfather was a commercial artist for the courier journal in Louisville Kentucky. I never got the art gene!
I'd rather be judged by 12 then carried by 6

I am from Canada and did not get serious about bowhunting until the 90's, did not get my first recurve until 2009, and I said right away it was Jim Dougherty

I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42

Beautiful painting.  I'm another that remembers Jim's writing's from the 70's.  If I remember correctly he was pictured on a Archery Digest  with a Ben Pearson marauder bow.  And had a article on gluing razor blades to a 2 blade broadhead.  Cutting technology at the time!

I remember the gluing razor blades article. Never tried it though.
Hmmmmm. I know you think you understand what you thought I said, but I'm
not sure that what you heard is what I actually meant!

I still buy Bowhunting just to read Jim Dougherty's Trails End segment. His writing is pretty meloncholy these days and I hope he is doing alright. A lot of trad archers won't know of him because he embraced compound bows and chose that bowhunting path. He is among the last of the old guard and most would enjoy his work even with the difference in equipment.

I met him in his archery shop in the early 90's in OK.  Really nice guy!

I recognized him right away.  Nice job.

Thanks all!  Trying to figure out who to do next...had thought of doing one of St. Charles, but Jack Paluh did one of him.

Followed Jims articles for many years. Probably second in my all time favorites, next to Fred. A very nice tribute to him.

Good to hear he's doing good.  Didn't realize he was still writing the trails end column.

How about this photo of Glenn St Charles...

Had thought of that one, but with a mountain goat up above he's stalking.

I said Jim Dougherty as soon as I saw the picture. Someone I followed closely in my younger days. Unfortunately you don't hear much about him now.
