Anyone here from him? I sent him a pile of goose and turkey feathers about two years ago. Nothing back from him yet. I have sent him messages, no reply. I want my feathers!!

He tried being a small archery business making arrows, selling poplar shafts, and grinding and selling feathers. Feast or famine, and with kids, famine is not an option. He got a full time job and had to put the rest on the back burner. Now that he punches a clock, time for family is tops and all things feathers are behind that.

If you'd prefer to have your feathers back I'm sure he would get them back to you. I think he got swamped with feathers coming in more than those outgoing at about the time he had to make the full time job decision.

Call or email him and he'll get back with you. I usually get a reply within a day or so when I send him messages or texts.

Trying to make a living off traditional archers ain't easy, especially if you aren't one of the big boys and/or have the money on hand to make it through the tough times.  Making a living off archery period isn't easy, then cut it back to serving something like 5% of the total archery crowd...you about got to be nuts.

We are a naturally frugal bunch, like to do our own thing, and although some won't blink at dropping $1,000+ on a bow we tend to try to save a couple of bucks on everything else.

It would be nice if everyone could make a living doing what they love, but unfortunately that's usually not the case.

I consider myself to be super lucky to have been able to stay in the string game for the last 20 years or so--seen a lot come and go--but there's been some really lean times.  Folks with more sense than me would have given it up for a real job, but I never claimed to have a lot of sense.

Hopefully he can get it all together and get everything straight with folks.  A fellow can get overwhelmed quick.

I am aware that Matt has been in contact with you about your feathers.  Hopefully it has been resolved to your satisfaction.

As has been said above, Matt tried to make a go of a cottage business when times got tough.  Kudo's to him for the extremely fine work he put out during that time!  His 17 hour work days were not enough to please everyone and he is fine with that.  Many of us know how hard he worked, and I was relieved when he got full time employment. He's doing well at his new position and has a good future there.

Thanks Matt for all you've done!

I don't think anyone here hasn't been in some hard times at one time or another.  I don't have any issues with Matt, but it was frustrating getting in touch with him this past year.  I have been in contact with him this past week and my feathers are on there way back.  No harm, no foul.  I wish Matt the best and if he were to start back up would highly recommend him.
