Rhinehart is definitely the most realistic looking targets!

I'm glad someone else brought this up.  I've been stalling on buying one for this exact reason.

Is this an irrational concern or is there something to this?

I think they are small too, but would probably have a heart attack to see the price of a truly life sized bear.  The price scares me off now.

I have one McKenzie and one Rinehart. The Rinehart wins by far.

Rinehart all the way.  I've been shooting the same one over and over for around 15 years

The Rinehart deer come in different sizes. Our club has a few of the big ones. Darn things weight almost as much as a real deer.

Those French targets are incredible. To prevent sun damage on targets, paint them with flat latex paint.

Rinehart is the best for the $$ in my opinion

I like the one's the good lord made. But I like the rhineharts also.

I have had this one for years and keep it inside while not in use. They have upgraded there targets from 2009 and the vitals are different. The only problem that I have had is that there is a metal rod running below the belly of the target and if I drop a shot low (shoot aluminum)it will bend the shaft.Kinda gets the old cheeks a little tight when you drop a shot low @ thirty yards. Also the replacement vitals are hard to come by.

For all you Reinhart fans...are you using the cheaper "woodland" series that retails for around $160 or going with the more expensive ones?  Curious to know if the cheaper woodland model is decent quality.  Seeing mixed reviews for it online.

I ended up replacing the Glendel I had with one of Big Jim's Rhinehart blems.  The heart lung area is still in great shape, but the foam on the rest has become very brittle.  I had to glue the back above the vitals back together over the winter.  I only had it out from about July through Dec.  I had had the Glendel for 6 years before it was in teh shape the rhinehart was in after one season.  I did have to replace the vitals on the glendel once. Others my have found them to have a longer life.  I just thought that I would report my findings.  The higher quality Delta Mckenzie targets have been amazing.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

Dave, the lower quality foam that is used on the woodland series deer (except the vitals) isn't nearly as durable and doesn't heal as well as the normal rinehart foam.  The bad reviews likely come from people not researching the product before they buy it. Shots outside of the vitals take their toll on the cheaper foam very quickly but it is still a decent target at that price point. That being said, the broadhead buck is about $40 more and is a much better target.
Take care,
Jason

LBR is correct about R&W targets as well.  The foam is quite a bit firmer than other targets but with trad bows, they don't pull hard at all.  The price is right, and they have great detail.....I love me some R&W's

Take care,

Our club always had McKenzies until this year when we invested in 30 new Rhineharts. Best decision we ever made!
