Tried a kme with a coarse stone a fine stone and a extra fine stone did not work to great...

I would have said the KME broad head sharpening kit as well.

Stainless steel is really tuff, I've had a difficult time trying to sharpen them. .

Do a search here on tradgang, there are a ton of good threads about sharpening all kinds of things.

Even jig systems like the KME require the user to know a few basic things. Obtaining a burr is key.  Once you've done that you've won the battle.  Grind the burr off as slowly as possible, then finish on a strop.  Then watch the hair pop!!!

The internet is you friend, there are a ton of helpful videos out there.

Good Luck,

Jake

You will have to stay on the coarse stone way longer than you might imagine. I haven't tried any stainless heads but I'm sure it's the same. Have you sharpened single bevels before?  Here was a good thread on sharpening grizzlies.

Another good option is clamping a 16" Nicholson file to a bench or block and pushing the head into it.  There is a video of it in the how to section.  No matter how you do it, you have to raise a burr and then remove it.

Stainless is hard to sharpen, I love the Stinger heads but don't use them for that reason. Call Ron at KME. I promise you will get it sharp with some elbow grease, a file and some diamond stones.

Calling Ron is very good advice.  He is very willing to help a guy out with sharpening stuff.  He has helped me in the past.

KME knife  sharpener worked well on Grizzley heads for me.  Like said above got to get to that burr stage.

I've been using a Work Sharp belt sharpener for a while. I like it.
