Only been out twice this year, both times on the ground. I will be in my climber tomorrow though. East wind on Sunday and rain later on might make it another day off; no way to hunt the small properties I'm on with that wind and being early season I'd rather not educate them too much. Weekend weather has not cooperated very well so far.

I just love being on the ground...

I started my bow hunting on the ground but had all the usual problems...getting busted trying to draw.

For years, I tried to force myself to sit in a tree and I just don't like it.

I still have a tripod out in the back yard and a hang-on in the garage just "in case" but I usually stay on the ground.

I don't know how to post pics here but I built myself one of those seats that leans up against a tree.

The problem I had with stools is that the ground is never level around the base of a tree that's big enough to give you some background. The seat I built sets you comfortably with your back right up against any tree.

When I'm not sitting on it, it makes a passible walking stick.

I'll be 60 November 20th. I still climb. I like ground hunting but I still climb.

I enjoy hunting on the ground but I also enjoy hunting from above.  I think each have their place.  There are some areas on the public grounds I hunt where you could never use a treestand.  For these, I love slipping in with my ghillie, home made portable ground blind (actually just a lightweight semi-ghillie blanket that I string between trees that helps me blend in better).

I am sure a lot of us would like to see your chair if you can figure out how to post pictures?

Monkeyball convinced me to try the ground and it is VERY enjoyable, been doing more ground than anything now. You can play the wind and be much more flexible with boots on the ground!

I'm 100% on the ground. Nothing against treestands or the fine folks who use them, but I just feel right when hunting down below.
Take care,

Ground for me........just seems more like hunting to me. Been in trees, know the benefits but really only felt at ease in ladder stands. When I started there were few tree stands, most were home made or wood nailed up to make a platform. With my Waldrop Pac seat and a few Torges seats I'm a happy hunter on the ground.

I am going to stock the Roll-A-Chair in Green.
I am waiting for a quote but should be about $50/shipped.
Let me know if interested.
