Thinking about picking up an old Bear Grizzly. Bow is 58" my concern is my draw length is 30.5 inches. I am thinking it is too short but wanted to ask others for their opinions.

Thanks

you can make it work but the results won't be optimal and yer pushing the platform design of that bow.

I draw 30.5, and am more comfortable and a better shot with 60-64" bows. I've hunted turkeys out of a pop-up with a 52" K-mag. It worked, but I know I was leaning my head forward to get my finger to the corner of my mouth.

I have a 58" Bear Grizzly and a 28.5 draw length and can tell you I much prefer a 60" to 62" recurve.  Finger pinch is an issue for me with this bow. I shoot longer Bear recurves much better.

If you can find one in your price range, I highly recommend a Damon Howatt Hunter, which has a 62" draw length.  It is a very smooth drawing bow and at your draw length, should be more comfortable with regard to finger pinch.

Second the DH Hunter...I paid 200 bucks for mine in like new condition...btw I draw as much as 31 inches depending on bow weight...my favourite bow though is this 64 inch Bear...if you get a chance pick one up

I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42

I am a huge fan of Bear Grizzlys but I would not recommend a 58" model for your draw length.  A 62" Grizzly (1963 and prior) would be a far better choice, or the DH Hunter, or a 64" Bear

I love the Grizzly's too but frankly 29" is about it.

I've been wanting one of the 64" Super K's...green of course.

Forget the Grizz with that DL.  I draw 29ish and a Grizz stacks like a mofo after that far.  Past 29" you're losing efficiency on the stored energy and the string angle is getting too close to 90 degrees.  Get something longer or a 58" design that is specifically built to go to 30"+, but there are few if any that can.

You're best off with minimum a 60" vintage, better yet a 62" for sure.

Thanks for the replies fellas. I passed on the Grizzly. I knew it was too short, but sometimes I can't listen to myself.
