Some vented heads are gona whistle a little .....anyone ever notice that it made a difference in killing an animal?

LA Trapper

Jeff,
A few folks on this site have said knock off (round) the sharp square corners on the trailing edge (bottom) of the vent.  This should stop the whistling.   Never tried it. But, give us a report if you do.

As with any noise, if the deer can react, they will.

The path of least resistance is what makes men and rivers crooked.

I'm not really sure if the broadheads whistle is any loader than the rustling the fletch makes. That said I have quieted some woodsmans in the manner Trapper suggested. In a pinch some grease in the back of the vent works to but its annoying.

Never saw any difference or deer react as the arrow sails over its back but they do jump when the arrow impacts the ground or a tree. Thats 20+ years with those "hissing" snuffers. Bow noise spooks more deer than anything else.........
Bowhunting is "KILL and EAT" not "Catch and Release".....Semper Fi!
