Just joined the gang yesterday and Im glad to be a part of it  :)
What back quiver do you prefer for hunting and carrying
Broadheads in? Also, I like the center of the back quivers with the backpack straps but is that a good way to go(arrow access, etc..) ?  Thanks for any advise guys!

I don't use back quivers any more.
My favorite over the years was a Cat quiver 3.

I currently like the side quivers that hang under my arm.
GFA is my choice.

I'm very content with my Hill style quiver; single strap, rides so the nocks are up between my ear & shoulder. I'm reasonably flexible, and can reach the nocks without the "bump" technique. Leather should be supple enough to conform to your back, which also keeps the arrows secure when moving.

Don't want a two strap style; I often slide the quiver down and around to my side (no adjustment necessary) to maneuver thru brush or branches. It's very frustrating to have your arrows catching on stuff as you're moving.

Also, give yourself some time getting used to the quiver, and it'll feel completely natural to be wearing it.

Especially important is a quiver that conforms to your back. Keeps your arrows from hitting together, making noise and the broadheads from hitting each other.

Thanks! Some great advice so far guys!
Do the straps on the Hill Style quivers come straight off the center of the quiver or are they slightly angled cause I'm a lefty  ;)  also, being a lefty would I want the nocks over my left shoulder or right cause I have seen some guys reach across for arrows.I would think the arrows being over MTV left shoulder would be best though. Thanks guys

I've never been able to use a back quiver, with field points much less broadheads. If I'm not using my strap on bow quiver,I use a side quiver. It rides over your shoulder like back quiver, but it's easier to access the arrows with broadheads on them.

You do NOT want two straps and have the quiver sit straight up as the arrows will rattle too much. You want a single strap that allows you to slide the quiver under your arm as you duck under low hanging limbs as in this photo....

You want the quiver to be stiff enough to hold shape, but broken in enough to conform gently to your body.....like this.....

You want the nocks near to your ear--as a lefty I like for the strap to be centered at the top but angled to the side at the bottom....like this.

If a quiver is made from leather that will gently mold to your back, lets the arrows hang so they lay sort of on top of each other, they will ride quietly, not fall out when you lean over, will not need any sort of stuffing like rice, oats, etc. in the bottom.  A piece of old carpet cut to fit the bottom of my quiver is all I ever use.  The long thongs attached to my quiver allow me to tie on a shirt or other item as the day warms up or maybe fletch cover, a rain jacket, poncho, etc.
The years accumulate on old friendships like tree rings, during which time a kind of unspoken care and loyalty accrue between men.

What David said,  A good quality Hill style back quiver well broken in:

I really like a single strap back quiver. It becomes easy to get off a second or more shots if you practice and learn how to grab and controll the arrow by the nock like John Schulz and Mr. Hill taught.
David and two4hooking showed some great points on how a proper back quiver should fit and how to use it. I have a Howard Hill Archery quiver that is broken in and collapsed in the middle. They are a great way to carry your arrows if they are made right and broken in. Their are several other makers of good back quivers on this site.

Welcome. If you do a search of the words back quiver on here in Pow Wow you'll find alot of information like mentioned above.

David and 2for have nailed it for advice.

I made me a Hill style back quiver a couple of weeks ago and I'm loving it. I haven't tried it with broadheads yet but from what I understand 2 blade work best in these.
You can get lots of good information on them here.

I really like my Hill style back quiver. I got it for a decent price and its made with buffalo hide and some rattlesnake inlays. It is very important that whoever you buy from has made it to the Hill style specifications.
