I'm like a kid when it comes to building forts...I mean ground blinds. Here's a covered one I built on my land last year. I think you remarked it looked more like a condo or something like that LOL.I missed a huge gobb from it last spring.

Have fun and all the best to your season Ron.

In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

Well had another morning making forts with Ken T. [KAT}. Set up a couple of spots and killed a few stumps and such. Not a bad way to spend a few hours.......

Can't get my kids to make a fort.  They don't get WiFi they tell me.   :dunno:    :dunno:

Good luck this season! Sounds like the place your hunting should give you a shot opportunity. This reminds me I have to build some forts this weekend too.

I know exactly how you feel Ron, I'm hunting some new to me state land, and after several scouting/stummping trips have found 4 decent looking spots with plenty of brush and blowdowns to build forts in.  Looking very forward to hunting this year off the ground.  Good luck to you.
Too many bows to list, and so many more I want to try!  Keep the wind in your face, and your broadheads sharp.

One of my favorite things is to wander looking for sign and patterns and building forts.  They all have incredible potential as I build them.  That is more than half of the fun of hunting for me.  Though I have never built a stone fortress like knawbone.  That is a work of art.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

This is the year for you Ron!  There is something special about finding that "perfect spot" to set up a ground blind.  I'm getting "antsy" just reading these posts!  Deer season is just around the corner!

I am a little late but I hope to start mine this weekend.  Love the condo.

A 75 year old guy down the road from me built a fort and took me out to see it. It was cool. It was an apple crate with mirrors on both sides. The mirrors came of an old school bus. The other thing that made it cool was the bridge he made to get to the other side of a drainage ditch. I hope I never grow out of building forts. In fact I'm pumped. I'm going to build another fort this weekend. A regular outpost.

Yes, it is like being a kid again and building forts. I may grow old, but I refuse to grow up.

Happy hunting Ron!  I have a few forts left to build this weekend.
