Dose anyone out there use two vanes and one feathered cock feather for bangin around and stump shooting? I already went back to carbons for stumpin cause I was breaking too many woodies and losing my points. May even try some chinese fiberglass arrows next.

I would think that the weight differential would negatively effect arrow flight. Why wouldn't you use a vane for all three feathers?

Well I said that wrong for starters. I shoot off the shelf, so it's the "bottom" feather that requires "feathering". I have taken a vaned arrow and cut that one vane so it acts more like a feather. Those work pretty good. I should have just asked what different things guys do to toughen up their arrows. I shoot every day and beat them up pretty regularly.

Were you breaking ceder arrows stump shooting?

Tracy
You really haven't hunted the old fashion way until you've done it from one of these Indian houses.(The Tipi) "Glenn ST. Charles"

Norminator

Yes, maybe hit something hard, cause an unnoticed crack, then loose your tip on the next shot.

Not sure why?  I know of no one that shoots with only one feather and two vanes, but I am sure it has been tried.  If you really like shooting vanes just put a bear weatherest on the bow.  Cedars will break out stumping.  I had better luck with Fir for stumping.  Shooting aluminum now.
