I have always loved long bows. I love the low to med wrist handles. I also very much love 50's style recurves. Same great handle, low bulk, and just simpler lines than a lot of the newer style. For a little bit now I have been enamored by the 'horsebows'. Scynthian style I believe although its hard to nail down the exact thing I like.

I have recently shot a little 40# Kaya recurve (no siyahs) and was blown away. Its faster than my 58" 50# longbow and is like 48" long and weighs nothing. Couldn't believe it, and I could draw it as far as I could with no stack. Blown away.

Anyway is there anyone that builds a short version of a 50's style longbow. Kind of a mix between the two? Seems like they are not all that different. Other than the 50's style recurve is longer and has a still simple but hand locating grip.

Is there any reason you couldn't mix the length and performance of a 'horsebow' with the handle/riser of a 50's recurve?

Saluki makes what you are looking for.

Saluki for sure.  The 'Ibex' model is an incredible bow.  If sticking to something more conventional recurve-wise with 50's styling and high performance, check out the Java Man Duoflex, the Toelke Chinook, the Fox Breed, or a Seven Lakes 'No Name' recurve.

Thanks nine, I'll check those out.

I have seen 70# short horsebows. Why dont we see shorter full weight recurves?
