Why is my Big Shot glove hurting my hand?

I know the Big Shot glove needs a longer break in time, because of the added protection, but how long before I go back to my Damascus? It pulls at the top of my ring finger and I have to take a break after 6-7 shots because it hurts my ring finger. Also have way more nock pinch then with the Damascus. Bottom line is I can shoot fine with no pain with the Damascus but can't stand many shots with the Big Shot. This is only happening on my 56" PCH. Should I give it more break-in time or just use the Damascus. I really like the Big Shot though.

By the way, the Big Shot might have 50 shots on it.

Sounds a little tight.  I you want to keep the glove, get the whole thing wet, and wear it, making a fist and then try shooting with it.  Let it air dry, or wrap in paper towel to soak up most of the moisture. Avoid sunlight and any heat as it could shrink.

I have one I've been using for three years. It takes a heck of alot more than 50 shots to break them in.. But once they do ooohh. Try getting it wet or sweating in it then use it till it dry's

Here's the break in: smear the entire glove with pitch blend, inside and out, and shoot it when saturated.  Don't over-do it, but put enough that it soaks in.  It will be broken in one afternoon. In my opinion, buy it the right length finger stalls, but very snug on the fingers as they always stretch.

Agree that you may need to stretch it a little.  That won't deal with the finger pinch issue though.  The Big Shot is a thicker glove all the way around than damascus, thus, it's going to get squeezed a bit more from an acute string angle.  That being said, because of the thicker leather all the way around, your fingers should be protected.

I called and talked to the owner maker of big shot gloves. The guy was really really concerned about my situation. My glove pinched my index finger. He sent me another glove to see if the same thing happened. I ended up really working the end of the stalls. Bending back and forth and side by side. Soaked it in hot water,It did help somewhat. Other than that the glove is very well made. I just wish it fit my fingers better. I have short fingers but wider palms, thus making it difficult finding a glove that fits. Ended up using a tab for awhile. I liked that because it actually brought the string closer to my face. Currently breaking in a bear paw traditional and liking it very much. Good luck.

sure you have the right size .. I have shot them for years and have never had the problems you speak of but they do vary in size a bit ... I had a 56" Thunderchild that was the shortest bow I ever shot with the Big Shot and had no pinch problems. As mentioned 50 shots is nothing on this style glove but it should not "hurt" your fingers ...

Peoples' hands vary and so do shooting styles. I shoot 3 under, but it's really 2 finger under and one on. I pull primarily with the middle finger and index finger. My ring finger just sort of rests on the string, but no deep hook with it.

I experience no finger pinch, even with an ultra short Two Tracks Ambush, but since all the string weight is on just two fingers, I like more protection than a lot of people.

If I were still working, I'd bet a paycheck one type of glove wouldn't satisfy everyone regardless of how well made it is.

I love my (now discontinued) Alaska Super Glove, with the hard, Cordovan finger pads, but many would find it too stiff and lacking in string feel.

Big shot is a heavy duty glove.  I used one for a while but ended up selling it because I think its over kill for anything under 60#.  I didnt like the lack of dexterity.  I have grown to love the Damascus type gloves and also the Bear Paw synthetic 'Black Glove'.  If you're concerned about nock pinch on the Big Shot take a very sharp scissors and trim the leather edges on the all the fingers close to the stitching.  It helps.

I bought a size L and I think it fits great, tight but not too tight. Although I think my ring finger is a little long for the glove, hopefully the glove will stretch with the length of my finger.

I think all the extra material/leather is what's causing the pinch. It's on the inside of my index and middle fingers. I'm gonna try spacing my fingers a little wider, I guess with the thin Damascus I was always able to get right on the nock.

The nylon stall on the tip of my middle finger is also tearing at the corner of my mouth. I really like the glove and I want it to work. Perhaps I'll soak it in hot water and keep at it.

Like I said Paul, take a sharp scissors and carefully trim the excess leather along the stitching on the fingers.  Helps alot

Thanks Chuck, I'll give it a try. My wife is a hairdresser, so she has some really sharp scissors. Any tips on the nylon tearing at the corner of my mouth?

My wife is a hair dresser also  she would kill me if I touched her scissors and used them for anything other than hair.    :nono:   don't let her see do it!

The Bigshot is a super quality, absolutely well made glove. I have used one for over a year, and my shooting was up and down. I went back to a tab, and everything smoothed out.

My analysis is that my release is just too sloppy for a glove...any glove. Especially one with as much bulk as the Big Shot. If you can shoot one, you are fortunate, because in my opinion it is the finest quality glove available.

So I cheated on breaking the glove in. I put it in a pillow case with some clean gravel from my driveway and threw it in the dryer with no heat for 30minutes. Took it out and roughed it up (while still in pillow case) by hand for another 10-15 minutes. Then soaked it in hot water and put it on and shot til dark, I could tell this was gonna work. Today, I took a good size stone and instead of cutting the excess material, I rubbed it smooth with the stone. Also rubbed the nylon smooth with the stone. Got to shoot for about 10 min today before a storm rolled in, waiting on it to pass now, but it's already feeling like a different glove. I guess it just needed a good breaking in, lol. I'm not giving up on it either.
