As many of you know my track record hunting is not all that good.....in fact it's terrible. So I was just checking my journal that I keep and making some notes. Did some math in the process. My average deer sightings for the last 10-15 years has been about 3.5 per year. In the last 4 years spending more time and in better spots it has gone to 14.5 and with 2 shot opportunities. My average know is 5.75 overall. I think I'm doing something right....maybe this will be the year!! I can only hope......and keep at it!!

I would travel.  Take a deer hunting vacation every year. I like to crab besides deer hunting. I try to make a trip or two to the eastern shore every year.

Most years it's 12-20 days. Years that I go some place like last year [Missouri] it goes up some, maybe 5-7 days. Many times it's half days, some early, some late.

Patient is an understatement. You're a better man than I. If I only saw 5 deer a year I would be so excited when I saw one I'd probably lose it.. Hears hoping this year is full of deer for you. You deserve it bud. Good luck

Good luck Ron, you'll make it happen this year!

I looked up "tenacity" in the dictionary and there was a picture of Ron.
You ever make a trip to SE Iowa, you can sit one of my stands Ron.  Your average may not improve, but it is beautiful farm country.
Since my daughter started shooting deer, I mostly gut and drag, so I am in good practice if you were to shoot one.
Best wishes on your up coming season!

You have an open invitation in the wet oak flats of Louisiana too Ron

I'm after my first (trad) deer as well, Ron.  I can tell you that I have blown a lot more opportunities than you.  I saw 52 deer on stand last year, and had six shots, blowing them all.  I admire your tenacity.  Keep after them.  Your luck will turn.  I wish you all the best.

Good hunting,
Jake
