Maintenance and Tuning?

So I got my pronghorn in last week and absolutely love it. This is my first bow and I'm really happy with the decision to go traditional and longbow.

Anyway, what type of maintenance do I need to do regularly for a longbow? I know the string needs waxing, but I don't know how often or when etc...

I've also read a lot of post regarding tuning your bow. What does this mean? How do I tune it? Is there a trusted how to article someone could recommend?

Lastly, my wife was really interested in shooting so I bought her a PSE recurve with a 25# @ 27" and she's really enjoying the shooting. Problem is she keeps striking her forearm with the string. I haven't had this issue so I'm not really sure how to fix it for her. I know they sell the arm guards and we are getting her one, but is this due to bad form and something that shouldn't happen often... Something we need to correct in her form?

Thanks for any help... Take care all...

Welcome S. Fork.

Pronghorns are great bows. Best thing to do about Maintenance is to Contact Herb Meland.  He should be able to tell you anything you need to know about his bows.

Have your wife bend the elbow of her bow arm just a smidgen.  That should help.  Still get the arm guard for the times she messes up and hits the forearm.

If you go to Pronghorn's website, look under " bow photos and Info.  Some good information there, and Herb has been very good about answering my questions.

Wilderness Custom Arrows has a good tutorial about tuning arrows on his website. The website recommended above is very good also. I have used bare shaft and of paper tuning  on different bows.

Enjoy that Pronghorn, it is one if my favorites.
